Bridesmaids

Four of my bridesmaids minus the maid of honor

Four of my bridesmaids minus the maid of honor

Picking bridesmaids… one of the biggest dramas so far!

So when you first get engaged and you think about your budget and what you want for your wedding, you will probably already know who you want to be your bridesmaids. Yes this was the case with me, I have 4 very close friends and a cousin I could almost call my sister. The reality of the situation was that budget probably wouldn’t stretch to five bridesmaid, so I had to make a couple of cuts! What a disaster……. Of course I was going to have my pretend sister as my maid of honor ( well I was her maid of honor so it is nice to repay the favour ) and of course my oldest friend as my bridesmaid. Ok so all I needed was one more and that would have to do…….. it took me a long time to decide who the third bridesmaid was going to be and in the end we picked a name out of a hat. I know what your thinking but it was the only way!

I asked the girls who I had picked and explained myself to the other two who were being left out. I have to say it was the worst feeling in the world telling the two girls that they weren’t being included and I shed a few tears over it. A few months later when I was doing a quick tot of the budget on my computer I realised that I was spending a fortune on a wedding but I still wasn’t doing what I wanted to do AKA having five bridesmaids so…….. after a short discussion with John we decided that it should be all or nothing with the wedding, so we are now having five bridesmaids and five groomsmen. ( John has four brothers so it wasn’t too difficult for him )

I asked my two left out friend this weekend if they would do me the honor of being my bridesmaids and they both were delighted, as was I!

From now on my attitude to this wedding is going to be “why the hell not”.

Thanks a million to my five beautiful friends who have agreed to stick by me over the next 8 months and 16 days while I lose my mind over dresses and flowers etc.
