The wedding so far!

Wedding Reception
Organising a wedding….. where do you even start???
John and I had alway talked about getting married but never had officially made the commitment. We’re together over 7 years now and had alway agreed that if we were ever to get married we would do it within a year. No long engagement, no waiting for it to happen, no waiting for someone else to organise it! So we decided in February that we’d take the plunge and get married.
Being a girl who has been with her partner for 7 years and knowing that some day we would be getting married I had already made my mind up on what kind of wedding I would like.
The usual thing in Ireland is that you have a hotel wedding and hotel wedding are usually lovely but just not what John or I wanted. We wanted something that we could put our own stamp on, a wedding where we decide everything not the hotel! So what did we look for? Something close to home, something with character, somewhere everyone would love. We wanted it to be child friendly, grandparent friendly and most important, party people friendly! We So we found this delightful, fairy tale like country house very close to home with a huge amount of land around it, perfect for a marquee wedding.
Lisnavagh house seems to be a hidden treasure. The family have had the estate since 1669 and it has evolved to include 1,000 acres of woodland, parkland, farmland and Lisnavagh House, designed in a magical Gothic Revival style with Victorian gardens. Sounds dreamy eh?
John and I met with Emily from Lisnavagh who showed us around and we immediately fell in love with the place. A couple of weeks later we brought our parents to see the house as my parents needed some convincing as they would prefer the more traditional route, a hotel. Once they saw the house and heard our plans their hotel ideas went out the window. Its difficult not to love this house.
So we contacted Emily from Lisnavagh and booked the date in April and sent on our deposit. Emily was very helpful and gave us details on local suppliers for everything we’d need for the marquee wedding, she even gave us a little discount!
So we booked our local church and asked our favorite priest to marry us…….. once that was done everything fell into place, the marquee company, the caterer, the furniture company, the band and dj are all people we know locally and are all booked for our date. All that is left is to organise the bar, the flowers, transport, invitations, B&Bs in the local area, the bridal party, the guest list…. Oh My God I have so much to do…..
